Week one weigh in

So it's the end of week one since re-committing myself and going for the goal.

And the scales say...

96.4kg.

Woop-de-flippin-do.

600gms in a week. I fluctuate that much normally when I'm not even trying.

All that effort this week for 600gms. Yep, that GIANT fish worth.

I've stuck reasonably close to a 1200calorie a day diet, I've done heaps at the gym, stopped drinking whilst eating.

Yes, it's a loss, yes, I know the first week might be slow but still, I feel FLAT. And being an emotional eater, all I want to do is eat something bad to feel better. :(

Woop-de-do

Bah meh poo-bum.

Scales.

5 days of hard trying.

No thrilling results, no more than any other week.

Need I say more.

Update on my efforts so far

Well I'm proud I didn't cave in on the first day! LOL! Not the second either - so far. ;)

Seriously, I've done well being "back on the wagon", my eating has been so much better, and I've even been recording it at My Fitness Pal (that's where my ticker comes from, and I have the iPhone app too). That's been helpful to see where my calories etc are coming from. I know I have too many carbs and I'm trying to increase my protein but right now I'm not too worried.

I've been hungry, but that's the pain of my body eating all the fat (that's how I choose to look at it). And I should never have got back in the habit of eating after dinner, that one is proving the hardest to break. But I WILL!

I've booked in for my program to be set up at the gym next Tuesday. My visit today was great, I felt really good going and afterwards.

Anyway all good so far!

Day one

Day one of being on track and I'm doing ok so far. Muesli for lunch, 2x S&V rice cakes for snack and avocado, chicken & fresh corn roll for lunch. No drinking during meals either! For me, that's good. LOL!

Only halfway through the day so far but going well!

Weigh in put me at 97kg so that means 34kg to get to goal (unless goal is changed as I get closer, as BMI is so vague I'm only taking a guess at a goal weight, it's more like size 14 is my goal) which is approximately 1.5kg per week. Not an easy task, but I'll try. :)

What can happen in 9 months?

In 9 months you can grow a baby.

OR...

In 9 months you can go from THIS:

to THIS!!!

WOW I can actually look at those photo's next to each other and TRULY see how far I've come.

I AM PROUD OF MYSELF.

I am far from the perfect bandster, far from the perfect "dieter" or gym goer, but LOOK AT ME!!!

I couldn't have done this without my lap band. I LOVE YOU LAP BAND!!!

New start

As the saying goes "tomorrow is a new day" and in my case, it's a new start. For the last maybe month or more I've been stuck. The scales have been stuck and my motivation has been stuck. I just haven't had anything to give the weight loss journey. I've been doing the very least I could do, and eating a lot more and a lot more bad stuff than I should.

But the last few days I've been psyching myself up. I won't be perfect, I don't expect that of myself. But as of tomorrow I will be expecting lots more will power to say no to those urges for salt and vinegar chips and all those other yummy things I've let creep into my diet. Same with the serving sizes that are too large.

No more of that, as tomorrow is a new day. :)

Losses and gains

I'm not talking about the usual losses and gains that we bandsters talk about.

This time I'm talking about FOOD.

I've been thinking about how my diet has changed since being banded back in February. There are many things off the menu now, and many new things on the menu.

I'd love to hear what you, as bandsters, miss from your old diet (either because you are a good bandster and don't eat it anymore or because you can't because of it getting stuck etc) and also new things that you never really ate before but you do now and enjoy.

I miss hot cinnamon donuts, pancakes and bacon & eggs for breakfast. I often still have eggs for breakfast, they're great. But bacon and eggs just don't work well. I *can* eat it, but the bacon has to be chewed so slowly that it's stone cold by the time I finish and it's just not enjoyable. Donuts and pancakes (many cakey type things) just get stuck. I'd still eat them sometimes if I could. LOL!

I am really happy to have chick peas in my diet now. I rarely ate them before and really enjoy them now. Same for muesli. Love the stuff. And Burgen bread!! I was a white bread girl before, now that just gets stuck and the Burgen is so much better for me and doesn't get stuck!!

So what about you???

The tape measure...

I was walking down the hallway and saw the tape measure (the kitten loves to play with it so it's always all over the house) and thought "ooh I haven't done that in ages".

Last measurements were on April 29:

* Chest 125cm
* Waist 129cm
* Hips 120cm
* Butt 127cm

To be honest my weight seems to be a bit stuck at the moment, I guess I'm on one of those horrid plateaus. It doesn't help that I'm probably not pushing 100% with my eating either, but we'll keep that bit quiet. ;)

So I grabbed the tape measure, and gasped!

* Chest 120cm
* Waist 121cm
* Hips 116cm
* Butt 124cm

That's 5cm off the ladies, 8cm (I repeat, 8cm) off the waist, 4cm off the hips and 3cm off my rear end in 2 months!!!! OH.MY.GOODNESS.

I have to stop caring what the scales say.

I have to stop caring what the scales say.

I have to stop caring what the scales say.

I have to stop caring what the scales say.

I have to stop caring what the scales say.

I have to stop caring what the scales say.

I have to stop caring what the scales say.

I have to stop caring what the scales say.

Ok I've repeated that a few times, hopefully it will sink in. LOL!

Oh and not that BMI is all that important, but I'm only 1 point off being "obese" not "morbidly obese" LOL! Hmm, that really doesn't sound so thrilling. HAHA!

Plans for today

Today I'm off to the gym to practice/train for my 5km walk! I'll set the treadmill to no incline (it's a flat walk on the day) and go for 5km. I have no idea how long it will take me or how hard/easy it will be.

Oh and good news, the scales finally let me breathe a little today. 104.4kg. Loss has certainly slowed in the last month, I guess that's probably normal. My less than perfect diet at the moment certainly wouldn't be helping. ;)

An award!

I have my first award for this blog! I feel so special!

Sandy Lee over at The Weight Loss Rollercoaster has given me a Sunshine Award!!

I don't think I know enough people to give it back to 12 people! So I will save it for a bit later on down the track.

Today is weigh in day but I the scales don't like me this week, I haven't lost ANYTHING. :( I know I've had a bad meal last night but nothing?? Poo. I have less restriction, so am looking forward to Thursday when I get a fill. Hopefully then some more will come off.

I have a question - what do all you bandsters eat for breakfast? I want something filling, low GI, low fat and low sugar - but I HATE porridge. Any ideas?
